My friend, Cheryl, has somehow managed to grow up without ever seeing Anne of Green Gables and Anne of Avonlea, and, being the good friend that I am, I set out to rectify that tragedy immediately.
I hadn’t seen the movies in a couple years and watching them all over again was so incredible. I’d forgotten just how much I love them. There are movies I’ll always love watching — and quoting — with my friends, like Mean Girls, Never Been Kissed, John Tucker Must Die, She’s the Man, and Stick It, but Anne of Green Gables and its sequel (I pretend the “continuing story” doesn’t exist because it is so utterly NOT representative of the book series) are hands-down my favorite movies.
They are wholesome, charming, and positively delightful. I can’t wait to introduce my nieces — and nephews, for that matter — to Anne.
