Edited, ’cause I got Avatar mixed up with The Last Airbender. Thanks, Candace!
I did a pretty good job at keeping up with movies this summer. I saw all of the big blockbusters except for Up (which I still plan on seeing, except it’ll probably have to be on DVD) and I also saw My Sister’s [...]

(Yes, I know, the song title’s actually ‘when September ends,’ but whatevs, it didn’t fit my purpose like that, so I tweaked it. Sue me. Or, rather, don’t, as I have no money.)
I find it odd that so many Whedonverse fanatics loathe Dollhouse. I’ll be the first to say that yes, the first two episodes [...]

Sergeant James Crowley of the Cambridge Police Department has said emphatically that he will not be apologizing to Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates.
And he shouldn’t. He has no reason to. The man did his job, plain and simple. It was Mr. Gates who immediately escalated the matter into one of ’systemic racism’ with no provocation.
Words [...]

I don’t know what made this pop into my head, but I realized that I don’t watch traditional dramas any longer. Gossip Girl was my last holdout. There’s a chance Happy Town might make the cut — Amy Acker’s in it, so I’m giving it a trial run next spring — but other than that, [...]

I’ve come to the conclusion that I need to be a bit better when it comes to what I watch with K&M. (We stick to Disney, Nick, and stuff like Sound of Music and Annie with the little kids.)
My rationale with borderline stuff was that their father allowed them to watch much worse than that [...]

Oh, the Left. How they love to throw around the word ‘tolerance.’ They’re so wonderfully open-minded and tolerant while the Right is opposed to tolerance altogether.
Right.
I’m intolerant because I don’t want to have a politically correct values system with which I don’t agree forced down my (future) childrens’ throats at public schools that receive my [...]

The Emmy nominations were apparently announced today. I had no idea that was coming and honestly, I was underwhelmed. I’m just not an Emmys kind of girl. Nor am I an Oscars kind of girl. Or a Golden Globes kind of girl a major awards show type of girl.
I don’t watch what critics consider “entertainment,” [...]

“I believe in Christianity the way I believe the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because by it, I see everything else.” — C.S. Lewis
It’s interesting how my beliefs and positions in certain areas have changed as I’ve gotten older. I used to wrinkle my nose in derision whenever anyone so [...]

Caution: The following review contains pretty extensive spoilers from the movie. Proceed at your own risk.
I had planned on coming home from the 12:30 a.m. showing of Harry Potter & the Half-Blood Prince and going straight to bed, seeing as how I have to be at work in three-and-a-half hours. But to be honest, I’m [...]

I love classic movies. I can’t exactly remember the first one that I saw; it might’ve been Casablanca. Or Roman Holiday. But whatever it was, I quickly learned to love stars like Cary Grant, Humphrey Bogart, Katharine Hepburn, Bing Crosby, Gene Kelly, Maureen O’Hara…but my favorites were Jimmy Stewart, Audrey Hepburn, and Grace Kelly.
