The mainstream media has been foaming at the mouth since vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin and her family announced that her 17-year-old daughter, Bristol, is five months pregnant.
Once again, Sarah Palin put her money where her mouth is, so to speak. She states she is pro-life, but for her, it’s not merely lip service. She found out four months into her pregnancy with son Trig that he had Down’s syndrome. For the Palins, abortion wasn’t even an option, and upon his birth, she claimed he was “perfection.”
How easy it would have been as she prepares to assist Senator McCain in trying to win the White House this November to avoid the publicity and the smear tactics of the Left and the embarrassment of her daughter by procuring a quiet abortion. Nobody would’ve ever known.
And yet the Palins did the right, albeit difficult, thing once again.
In her statement yesterday, Governor Palin said: “Our beautiful daughter, Bristol, came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. We’re proud of Bristol’s decision to have her baby and even prouder to become grandparents. Bristol and the young man she will marry are going to realize very quickly the difficulties of raising a child, which is why they will have the love and support of our entire family.”
Contrast that with a statement made a few weeks ago from the, er, “enlightened” Barack Obama (you know, who views such matters “above his pay grade”), who said that if his daughters make a mistake, he wouldn’t want them “punished with a baby.”
I couldn’t lose any respect for the guy since I never had any to begin with, but wow. That certainly clarifies his so-called humanity for me.
As for Sarah Palin and her family, I have never respected them more, and my prayers are with them and especially Bristol and her unborn baby.
I have never been prouder to stand firm on the side that stands firm for life.
